A pretty easy day today, travelling from St Augustine to
Tallahassee. We took many of the back-roads and found some lovely small towns
to stop in. It seems that wherever we stop people comment on our accent and
then want to have a conversation with us. Many, many times we’ve heard the
words “Oh Australia” I really want to go there! We sometimes wonder if they really
know where Australia is. We arrived in Tallahassee around lunchtime and went to
a large shopping mall for lunch. We met our Airbnb host he showed us around our
lovely accommodation in Tallahassee, before leaving us to settle in. We are in
a home in a beautiful “Historic District” of Tallahassee. Our host had left
several small guide booklets about all the historical homes in this area so
Heather and I decided we would get up early in the morning, before it gets too
hot and do a walk around this area of Meyers Park. The boys were excited to see
a great looking golf course nearby. We ventured out following a huge, tropical
downpour and the boys visited the golf course and managed to book a time for a
game of golf tomorrow. They have booked a cart and clubs and hopefully it won’t
be too humid for them! Heather and I have already sorted some interesting
places to visit. We have tried all sorts of different spots for tea and tonight
was no exception! We went to a supermarket called “Save-a-lot” and bought a
whole lot of frozen meals, pies, lasagne, garlic bread, roast meat and vegies etc.
The most expensive item was lasagne….enough for 2 adult serves for $2.90! Rob’s
pie was 95c. Hopefully we will wake up tomorrow!!! Just to let you know we have
been listening to many “country” radio songs while travelling and we have
decided that the music (and lyrics) are terrible. They play the same songs over
and over. We all start to groan when we hear them. Just for a laugh “google” these.
“Drowns the Whiskey” by Jason Aldean, “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” by Luke Bryan,
“I Believe Most People Are Good” by Luke Bryan, “Drunk Girl” by Chris Jason! We
have heard these so many times we have lost count.
