A slow start to the morning because we had a few jobs to do
before heading off. We have felt very proud of the way we have used the public
transport to make our way into the city. For the first couple of days we walked
about 2.5kms to the local train station and then discovered a bus stop much
closer. Today we thought we’d catch the bus in and save our legs. We arrived at
the bus stop at 11.15am We waited and waited and then thought we should check
when the next bus may be coming and it wasn’t due till 4.20pm! Off we trouped
to the station. We took the train, then another bus out to the last remaining
pier that is still used for fishing. We had been told about a famous seafood restaurant
called “Tony’s, No Name restaurant”. This place has been here since 1917 and
apparently in the early days when people used to ask Tony what the name of his restaurant
was he would say “No name, just come and eat!” Tony also was a good business man. He would invite
all taxi drivers down for a free lunch at his restaurant and of course when the
drivers were asked by customers where to eat they would recommend his No Name restaurant.
We all had a delicious meal of seafood including clam chowder, lobster,
calamari, ect. Walking around the surrounding area near to the harbour we saw
many up-market eateries including one called “Legal Boston”. After lunch we had
intended to go out to the JF Kennedy Museum but we didn’t have enough time.
Instead we returned to the shopping area of Boston for a little retail therapy!
