Paul was greatly improved this morning due to the treatment
he had on his wrist yesterday. As we didn’t have far to travel today we decided
to head out to a Historic Plantation not far from Charlotte. We went to the
Latta Plantation, a historic plantation set on 52 acres. The house and the
outbuildings gave us a glimpse into what life may have been like here from 1800
onwards, in particular during the era of slave ownership. We took a guided tour
of the house which was restored to the way it may have looked in the early 1800’s
and then did a self-guided tour of the grounds and out-buildings. It was very interesting
and informative. After this we headed to Greenville. This was to be the spot
where we were either going to hand our hire car back or re-negotiate to take it
further. We had a very comfortable Airbnb all to ourselves and the boys
realised that there was a minor league baseball game on just down the road so
after dinner they headed off. Heather and I stayed back at the home, did some
washing and watched a good movie.
