Day 50 17/8 Friday Augusta

After our unsuccessful visits to the golf course yesterday we decided to head to the area along the Savannah River in Augusta to do a short river walk. As we drove towards the walk we saw about 6 guys who were from a correctional facility and an officer looking after them, collecting rubbish from the side of a freeway bridge. Cars raced by the men at 50 mph. and they had not even blocked off a lane or put out witches hats. It was so dangerous and something we would never see in Australia. We had a lovely walk along the river and then visited the Augusta Museum which was very close to the river walk. This was an unbelievable museum that we were charged $1 for! It was huge with rooms dedicated to different eras of Augusta’s history. Of course there was also a couple of rooms all about golf! We spent many hours here in the cool. Rob was hoping to find a bakery for “a pie”. Yesterday we found a “Bakery” but it was a special bakery just for dogs! Today once again we were on the hunt for a bakery for Rob and once again we saw a sign that we thought said bakery but no it said “Barkery” and was a bakery for dogs! We saw another one for dogs called “The Bone-i-Fido Bakery”! No human bakeries! After finding a lovely spot for lunch that was not a Bakery we headed back to the Savannah River to do a relaxing and informative cruise along the River. The large air-conditioned boat only had the 4 of us plus one other person as passengers.
