Day 59 26/8 Sunday Tampa to Crystal River

Just and update re Rob’s haircut. He and Paul survived the experience and they returned safely. Rob asked to have a little bit of a pattern shaved into one side of his head. The barber was a little reluctant and he ended up with a line in his hair that looks like he’s had surgery or something. He could have at least go some lightning or a star or something!
We had a very easy drive from Tampa to our next stop, Crystal River. It took just over an hour and half. We decided to stop into a little place called Homosassa as this is the town that has the Springs Wildlife State Park and it is where we can take  manatees tours from. It very was very picturesque with dense tropical vegetation and rivers, streams, waterways everywhere. We checked out a tour group and then drove onto Crystal River, where we are going to be staying for the next 3 nights and visited another tour group centre. We met an extremely helpful woman and ended up booking two tours over the next few days. We then drove to out to a beautiful spot, Pecks Old Port Cove. The woman we spoke to had said there was a lovely bar/restaurant that overlooks the waterways and it was good spot for lunch and she was correct. We drove back to Crystal River to check out a couple of swimming spots and found a little beach area at Hunter’s Spring. We went swimming in this freshwater area. It was very cool and we assume this was because of the springs feeding water into this area. We enjoyed the swim and then went to our accommodation to settle in for the night.
