After breakfast the first thing we decided to do this
morning was to visit the tourist information centre to work out what to do to
ensure we saw the most of Niagara. We decided to do an Adventure Pass that included
a hop-on hop-off bus, and tickets to 4 main attractions at Niagara Falls. The first
thing we did was a 4-D theatre experience called “Niagara’s Fury”. It was very
well done and a told us much about the formation of the falls as well as giving
us an experience of being in the falls…we were wearing ponchos and we were
getting wet and the floor was vibrating. Following this we did a “Journey behind
the Falls” tour. Here we were issued with ponchos once again and then went down
an elevator to walk along tunnels built for hydro-electricity that were right
behind the falls. This was quite a unique and wonderful experience, walking
behind the falls and we got very wet! Following lunch we then did the White
Water Walk. We caught the bus down the Niagara River and then took an elevator
down to the lower level, close to the white-water rapids. These rapids are
rated a level 6 and were mesmerising! The power of water is something that I
just don’t tire of watching. We walked quite a way along the board walk. This was
the area where the famous Blondin did his tight-rope walking stunts! We also
visited another area called the whirpool before finishing with the most spectacular
and memorable part of the day, a “Hornblower Niagara Cruise” which took us in
extremely close to both falls. The wind, power and spray created by the falls
is something that you need to experience to understand. We loved it! We
completed the day with a huge dinner at the “Frontier BBQ and Steakhouse”.
