We had a very early start again this morning and were
probably a little light on sleep. You see in Iceland at this time of the year
it is always light! It never gets completely dark and people tend to stay out late.
Our guest house was a very busy one with people coming at going at all hours
and this was the case last night. We heard the last of the revellers come in
and this was followed shortly after by the first of the tourists setting off at
4am to get to the airport. We had to be at our bus stop by 6.30am because we
had booked to go into the Blue Lagoon for a few hours before catching the plane
to London. We enjoyed relaxing in the blue, silica, thermal waters and even
enjoyed a mud mask. Yes Rob had one too. Our package included a free drink at
the bar in the lagoon and at 8.15am in the morning Rob was enjoying a beer
while I had berry smoothie. We explored all of the lagoon and again it was not
too busy being early before the crowds came. After nearly 2 hours we were
looking a bit like prunes so we vacated the lagoon and relaxed inside until it
was time to leave to catch our bus to the airport. We were pretty lucky with
the weather. In the early morning it was quite still with overcast conditions and
just a very light drizzle. By the time we had to leave it was pouring with rain
and a howling gale was blowing. Not much fun for the hordes of people arriving.
We caught our plane to London without much fuss and have just enjoyed a lovely
meal at a real British pub.
