After a very restful night’s sleep we met up with Heather
and Paul for breakfast before hopping on the sight-seeing tourist bus to see
some of what New York had to offer. We ended up purchasing a 3 day pass as we
thought there was so much to see and so many different routes to take that this
was the best option. We thoroughly
enjoyed this and worked out which stops we would explore more over the next few
days. As we covered 2 different routes today, this filled in most of the day
and it was soon time for us to take the subway out to Yankee Stadium to see the
baseball. The New York Yankees and the New York Mets were playing each other.
We were pretty happy with our navigation on the subway and arrived safely at
the stadium. Unfortunately soon after we arrived the heavens opened up and it
poured. Once we were in the stadium we occupied our pre-game time with drinking
and eating. When we thought it had stopped raining we found our seats, wiped
them down and sat down. We had to retreat again as more showers came through.
This continued to happen and the game which was meant to start at 8PM was
delayed for an hour and then postponed. So disappointing especially for Rob. We
then joined the thousands of people trying to leave the stadium to get a train
home. We were packed into the trains like sardines. It certainly was an
interesting experience.
