All went well with our stay at a very convenient hotel at
Heathrow and we made it to the airport by taxi with plenty of time to spare.
While enjoying breakfast at the airport we kept watching the boards to see from
which gate our flight to Frankfurt would be departing. We became a little
concerned when the board said it was going to be delayed due to a late arrival.
As we only had about an hour in Frankfurt to transfer to our flight to New York
we thought we may once again miss our connecting flight. This didn’t happen as
once we landed we were hurried through to our connecting flight by the
staff….except Rob had been selected for a “random security” check. He told me
to go ahead to our gate and he would get there as soon as possible. The gate
was at least a 15 minute fast walk away. He went through the extra check and
passed of course and then had to really move quickly to get to our departing
gate. I must say I was relieved to see him as I was a bit worried he may have
got lost. We had an uneventful trip to New York and arrived at our Airb’nb
around 7pm. We were really pleased and excited to see our friends, Heather and
Paul. They had arrived the day before us and were staying one street away. We
are right in the middle of New York. Times Square is just a minute’s walk away
and Broadway is very close-by, in fact Kinky Boots, the musical is on across
the road from where we are staying. We went out for drinks and dinner with
Heather and Paul and then walked down to Times Square to check it out at night.
Unfortunately the heavens opened up in a tropical downpour so we return when
it’s not so wet.
