We had a great night’s sleep in our self-contained little
cottage and then went down to the main reception area for a wonderful
breakfast. We have quickly got to know our group’s members and are lucky to
have a lovely group of people to be travelling with. Today we headed out to
first see some more stunning waterfalls. The weather was not kind to us with
slight drizzle for most of the day but this did not dampen our enthusiasm for walking
and viewing the incredible sights this country offers. At Seljalandsfoss (don’t
you love the names and spelling!) we were able to walk behind the waterfall, a
unique experience. Later we visited a very powerful waterfall (Skogafoss) and
then went to the museum located nearby to learn a little of the history of
Iceland. In the afternoon we visited two beaches which had the most amazing
rock formations and the famous black sand. We also visited the area where the
volcano erupted (under a glacier) in 2015 and caused issues with flights across
Europe due to the ash in the air. Glaciers and active volcanoes seem to be a
feature here! We are now at our next guest house and it is quite beautiful.
Many farmers are adding guesthouses to their properties to add income to their
farms.

Hi Guys,
ReplyDeleteLooking snugly wrapped up! The day's drizzly conditions create a rather mystical element to your photos. In my mind that seems kind of fitting for the country. Helen, your red jacket pops!
